Wow like 13-15 knots per hour winds today. We absolutely flew all the way to PALM Beach just flying from Avalon. I possibly saw a well visible UFO, not sure what it was. At least two or three small marine planes taking off and landing on the water. At least two hang gliders. Yachts everywhere in the gusting winds and we were flying. Dopey motor failed to turn over to head back to mooring so got another tow from marine rescue. My second in like two months. The five of us, mom dad and the three little kids headed to shore. I swam with my flippers in underwear, quite cold water. Had my snorkel. Cold!
It was also quite breezy and a little chilly today. Fortunately the kids kayaked back well to shore. With the two red kayak system. Mom and the youngest on the big red kayak and the eldest two on theirs.
Having joined the sailing club I can now collect my clubhouse key and use it whenever including just to shower. Plus I can use the pontoon outside too. Supposing I sort out the dopey motor issue, (might have to buy an outboard and clip in on the back or something). The pontoon on the club is super convenient as very close to the Red Herring and so allows friends and family to board easily and there'll be a hose there also for water.
Alex will start a regime of sailing on Sunday mornings in little tiny kiddy sailboats with all the kiddies there. I wish I had his life instead of the life I had!*** Even one of his best new buddies from the neighbourhood there is joining the lessons with him so I imagine they'll end up on the same little boat learning together. This girl's uncle is an Olympic sailor so he's in good company. Making all kinds of buddies around Avalon and I have to say that Nietzsche master morality vs slave morality trumps my usual bitching and whining about race. I don't see any slave morality in Avalon, only master morality so I don't care if the people are purple coz they're just fine with me. In fact, this local sailing club at one point invited like some dignitary from the British Royal family to attend their grand opening or something way back when and, in the end, I think they sent the governor general. One of the main patrons of the club somehow ended up with his pride and joy boat for life ending up in my possession and invited me to see his trophy room in his beautiful Avalon house and yes, he certainly won a bunch of them as the Red Herring can really move.
We were really moving fast today and the thing is overdue for a hull scraping so in those kinds of winds, with a clean hull, wow. That'll be something to see.
Check out this website a bunch of Oyster type sailing boats are sailing around the world. One of the local sailing club members is sailing various legs on his brother's boat. I'm looking forward to crewing with someone from the club on their yacht to go to Sydney Harbour or Newcastle or somewhere.
Happy days on the water....

*** Everyone's soul gets pulled into their relevant world though. Alex is nine years old now and I remember when I was five years old, like Alex, I was going to kindergarten in western Sydney. In his case it was only the one year out there. I know I've sledged psychiatrists and modern medicine alot but anyway here we are. No-one in Australia would necessarily want to be compared with western Sydney folks necessarily, especially not the wealthier. Western Sydney folks definitely have a slave morality as they end up paying other people's mortgages with their rent money. Enriching pharmaceutical companies with their prescription pills. Many working class people have slave moralities. However Australia as a whole definitely has a master morality compared to most, if not all nations. And fairly understated also as Australians are not prone to bragging. The America certainly has the most muscle and the most master morality, however within America, like Australia, there are many master and slave moralities competing with each other.
I wanted to mention, when I was five years old, my parents got me a large toy van and a fairly large jumbo jet toy that could fit into the van. I was very happy one day to bring them to school and give the plane to Robert and the van to Geoffrey or whoever they were and just let them control those toys while the other kids watched them. I was happy as Larry watching all that as a kid as I loved watching them play with my toys same as I loved sailing the Red Herring in all that wind today: toys! I'll probably post a photo of that kindergarten group one of these days. A lot of those kids moved after that year and didn't stay at school so just left. Similar to my son!
Yes the ideal thing would be to crew with some folks like this from Australia to Indonesia or something like that and just take two or more months off work. Get the in-laws to move in while I'm out, kinda thing. Shorter trips also would be neat.
