Australian federal politics today

So recently we had an election and the right leaning federal government was voted out and the new one was voted in, the left leaning one. Two of the more senior leaders, Albanese, the main leader, and Penny Wong, a deputy leader, immediately made a splash travelling to a high profile media forum in Fiji with Kamala Harris there in person or probably on videolink. A lot of Australia's media under forty years old look very impressed with Kamala Harris but probably have a narrow or superficial understanding of american politics.

The pivotal issue in Australian politics is immigration. Under the Morrison government immigration was wound back because of coronavirus and it's likely a lot of liberal voters were upset at the dwindling of the labor pool. If the Liberal party is out of touch or the journalists are out of touch I can't tell you as I have my own perceptions like the next person.

My perceptions are that low unemployment and scarcity of foreigners to fill jobs is paradise however there are many employers looking to make money who are probably in hell right now having lost a lot of money. If you just get out and talk to business owners you'll see they took a hit. I did not like Morrison's government's one size fits all approach to handing out money to employers. I imagine the current Labour government is anxious to spend money as they have already passed their first legislation in this regard and we're not seeing clear leadership from Liberal party about this, ie from Dutton and Scottsdale [sic] Morrison is MIA.

I absolutely did not like Morrison's government's approach to illegal immigration which was an absolute waste of taxpayers' money and inhumane and foolish. All the money was going to contractors for basically cruel and unusual punishment, un-American. I was not fully versed on the Guillard government's approach to illegal immigration but I thought it probably was better. Albanese and Penny Wong and Co tried to score some cheap political points with the Biloela people but it's just some newspaper to wrap fish and chips with and hopefully noone's sniffing too much coke in the media and too stressed about the all important transgender rights.

But anyway the main issue is legal immigration as many employers are bursting to employ whoever. I think it's actually very good for Australia to stay the way it is so that folks can spread some culture and language learning around because everything has been pretty breakneck here for decades now with regards to explosive population growth. Consider 15-16 million Australians when I was born in Penrith in 1976 compared to now, like 25 million. That's incredible growth.
