War in Ukraine

Russia's president came out yesterday saying war has only begun. This made a pretty big impression on western media.

But at this point what a cursory, or summary, I get those words mixed up so maybe some mistake there, reveals are the following facts:

1) Russia is shooting 50,000 shells per day, compared to America's 60,000 during entire Iraq war (not including aerial bombardment I'm guessing).

Not sure what the exact numbers are but it's pretty high. You can imagine being a Ukrainian soldier on that front in Eastern Ukraine, you're gonna feel under attack.

2) while Ukrainians seem to have won supremacy over Russia's tank mobility and armored vehicle mobility with their javelins and similar weapons, the American howitzers they're using are down to around 35 per day out of 200. Due repairs and losses. Germany is sending tanks which will probably be superior to any tanks anywhere as Germany has always had a penchant or flair for tanks, however it would need to be hundreds of tanks to make a difference.

Ultimately, NATO is saying they're going to take Finland and Sweden as members and the EU is saying they'll take Ukraine as a member. But being a member of the EU will not put Ukraine in a better position than before the war. I also doubt Putin's claims about invading Ukraine for security much, I think he's showing off.

The EU is very slow to act and only reactive and generally passive and not really doing anything and it's unclear how the EU can help Ukraine secure its border with Russia. There's always the chance NATO gets dragged into the conflict by Belarus or Russia after local Ukrainians start bombing Russian or Belarus targets and the Russians or Belorussians respond by bombing some NATO target.

Unclear how much weight Germany wants to shift.

Whatever Putin is talking about a new multi polar world is all bullshit. The world hasn't changed except food supplies for Ukraine's food buyers are scarcer.
