As you can imagine, topography is pivotal in understanding geography. Historically, civilizations have thrived around and besides rivers. The fertile rice fields in china spread around the Yellow River have had such rich soil since antiquity. As of thousands of years ago, they have always provided facility for TWO harvests per year, not just one. While Chinese culture, in its genetic, nascent state, regardless of wars or cultural revolutions or what not, is essentially embryonic to the Chinese soul and genetic, cultural existence; it essentially has been one long uninterrupted chain for thousands of years based on large part on this principle of fertility of land amongst certain plains and deltas fertilized by the major rivers of china meeting the sea.
Obviously communist, centrally planned societies like China's and the USSR's have historically approached the modern question of industrialization in their own unique (authoritarian, non-Democratic) way. Let it be said, though, no matter how much the English and American races whitewash their dark histories regarding industrialization, there's always a nasty price to pay. While I may not be aware of the history well in America, I'm certainly aware of England, China's and Russia's kampf (it's German for struggle) with industrialization.
Considering American geography, if you can imagine a Hollywood starlet that wishes to show off her snatch for the pap (here pap does not refer to Huck Finn's alcoholic, brutal father, but the paparazzi). Who knows how Hollywood starlets with hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank, think? Perhaps showing their snatch to pap will attract a powerful mate, capable of giving her a powerful son or a terribly beautiful daughter. Or something, I don't know. The important thing is to realize that when considering American geography, the relatively narrow strip of the land WEST of the rocky mountains chain (which runs north to south) and describes the limit of ancient Lemuria (the ancestral homeland of Australia's Aborigines who were joined to California and west coast USA (west of the San Andreas fault) by a super continent* now sunk under the Pacific.) Not much land lies west of this geographic fault line (continental plates), but it is significant: much of California, Seattle, etc.
East of the Rocky Mountains we have land that is primarily drained by the Mississippi. 59% of American rainwater is drained by the Mississippi. You might think of this floodplain (the 59% floodplain), as the starlet's snatch. And the Mississippi river itself, as the starlet. So the major contributing and associated rivers to the Mississippi will be outlined here. Using photos such as the last photo, we'll represent each river by a dancer and the Mississippi with a picture of the starlet (or the Mississ, if you will). Standby for photo uploads and farther geographical data.
Now anticipating some discrepancies in some geological ideas, or even anthropological ideas the reader may have in contradistinction to the messaging Benji is presenting here. Let me draw your attention to Montgomery Burns' star lawyer:

Here he is requesting cream with his coffee. However if you're a Simpsons fan, you'll likely remember him in Court juxtaposing his various (generally winning) arguments, with his tried and trusted sentence starter: 'now wait a minute'. Mayhap my reader has a PhD in religious studies or a PhD in anthropology or geology and while neither can agree with each other, both agree they can identify with this star lawyer when he cross examines, generally beginning his phrases nonchalantly innocently (while actually being shark like), 'now wait a minute'. I'll wait a minute.

* A place where prior to developing vocal chords, mankind's precursors, (post Adam (ie post monosexual) races not including females of any descriptions, scary, fat, bossy, unbearably bossy or otherwise): the Cain races and Abel races, were able to communicate telepathically, and unable to communicate with speech. Dinosaurs roamed freely and men might measure a hundred yards in height (as displayed by the Bamiyan 'buddhas' the Taliban bombed as idols, which were actually lifesize actual-size representations of mankind's prior races). It's understood Australian wombats were the size of small electric rechargeable cars, like the Nissan Leaf, but we can't believe the same about mankind, despite numerous bones of giants already having been dug up (denial, delusion of the modern industrialized Estate). Carbon testing so easily proves these, now disappeared, Bamiyan 'buddhas', pre-dated the actual time of the actual Guatama Buddha by many thousands of years or probably tens of thousands of years.
