watchin' movies n' stuff

watch how we watch movies around here:   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_R0XPbjdSI&feature=youtu.be

ok so i caught 2 movies, the first australian, made a couple of years ago, it only grossed 80k at the box office but it wasn't that bad, 'wasted on the young'

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1647483/

it's not a bad movie it's very slick, however it's R-rated and features alot of violence and a gang-rape/date-rape scenario which isn't graphically portrayed but the subject matter is negative and will bring you down, teenagers are portrayed as very scummy, lacking in good values, etc....

then the 2nd movie was 'battleship' with the singer rhianna, it's an action genre film you've seen
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1440129/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

the kind before... not gonna tell you about it much here... typical hollywood crap....  here are some staples of this genre:

1) action scenes/special effects/explosions/thumping rollicking soundtrack with bombing sounds

2) light hearted banter and dramatic human interaction close-ups, screams, stitching bleeding bodies, etc, humanistic stuff, tears, love affairs, bravery, close ups on faces, etc

3) media news reports of alien invasion, fake cnn snippets, etc

4) pseudo intellectual stuff for all the mexicans in the flat part of hollywood around sunset boulevarde, etc, to cogitate on, in this movie it's 'the art of war'

let's not spoil this movie for you and instead talk about the 'art of war'  (yes there is the occasionally severely retarded thing like in 'independence day' - in this movie a relic wwii museum ship is made to turn like a speedboat) -- the film has to portray battle scene scenarios playing out between modern navy vessels (big ones) and alien technology which is a chance for the dorky cgi nerds to show off when they aren't playing world of warcraft... someone needs to go and make a documentary on these people that come up with stuff like the alien ships in this movie....

this movie does not really go 'hell for leather' in depicting full-on war scenes.... it does a lot of it but tries to mix that with some glorification of the baby-boomers who take over some wwii museum warship 'missouri' from wwii.....

anyway, i don't want to diss on this movie anymore for you... so let's look at the 'art of war' from wikipedia which nobody encourages you to use as it isn't 'peer reviewed'

this movie definitely addresses the idea of china and america going to war, maybe in 50 years time, big naval battles, that kind of thing.... see below for various chapters of the 'art of war'

here's a story from benji's as an ambulator around the world relevant.... in late 2005 after half a year in nyc, benji went off to work 5 weeks at some lame school an hour outside of beijing centre, so a suburb of beijing, really, called 'niulanshan'...that's nyc hong kong, hong kong fly to urumqi in xinjiang, spend 3 weeks there, fly to beijing... it was a little bit better than most schools in china, maybe the parents had to pay $2000 a year or something like that, all the teachers had smart labtop computers, the facilities were a little bit better than average.... one student at the school was a u.s. citizen and spoke american english, she was chinese but had spent some time living in america, somehow she seemed happy there in the uniform situation, everything in china is very uniform, people dress the same at school, same hairstyles, it's a little like the military.... one day in the cafeteria there was this totally lame guy, found out later his wife completely hated benji and everything the benji represents...... bully for her, an individual even comes to hating his own self at some point, and nobody is an island unto themself, right.... still, in china, you keep your emotions and your energy to urself, you don't go around dispersing it everywhere like a drunken, carousing, westerner, that's not true, actually chinese people eventually will fall to drinking alcohol stupidly and acting the fool and you will leave them, never to return, that is a fact.....

the hater woman's husband seemed interested one time in talking about the 'art of war' book.... it all sounded a bit lame, china's a goddam disgrace and everyone knows it..... i don't hate chinese people but if there were a massive war break out in my life with china i would most def. sign up and start gunning down chinese people if i had to, for the sake of democracy and all that shit, even though i don't hate chinese people, like their food, and generally like china......

there is definitely a streak of idiotic nationalism there which so far the government has only been able to deflect against japan... they might bully the phillipinos for a while but it's not like they're gonna really attack anyone right? like the japanese? anyway, sure would be interesting to see it

one of my taxi customers last nite was chinese, born in australia, talked like a total girl and gay guy all in one, somehow you felt he wasn't one of these gays having clusterfuck sex with 100 guys in the same nite, just kind of gay and girlie sounding when he talked..... anyway, it turned out he loves american football and is a goddam expert on it....... a guy from missouri or somewhere was explaining the nite before that there are two divisions: afc and nfc starting from two separate leagues that were created, each division has four conferences, north, south, east and west and there are 4 teams in each conference making a total of 32 teams

turned out the chinese girly guy's favorite team is st louis rams or sthmg like that, when asked what conference/division they are in he knows it, it's like west and afc or sthmg like that and he knows seattle seahawks, arizona cardinals sf 49ers are in his team's league... he really knows his shit! it was a real surprise

moving back to chinese people, from communist china, they're pretty smart and pretty savvy about shit in general..... all you can do is challenge them to become a democracy, try doing it next time you hear some of them hawking mucus at ur local airport burger chain like jack in the box, e.g., by LAX, and see what they tell you, try asking them: 'hey so when are you gonna get the vote in china'.... that's something you can do for homework

Chapter summary

The beginning of The Art of War in a classical bamboo book from the reign of the Qianlong Emperor
  1. Laying Plans/The Calculations explores the five fundamental factors (the Way, seasons, terrain, leadership and management) and seven elements that determine the outcomes of military engagements. By thinking, assessing and comparing these points, a commander can calculate his chances of victory. Habitual deviation from these calculations will ensure failure via improper action. The text stresses that war is a very grave matter for the state and must not be commenced without due consideration.
  2. Waging War/The Challenge explains how to understand the economy of warfare and how success requires winning decisive engagements quickly. This section advises that successful military campaigns require limiting the cost of competition and conflict.
  3. Attack by Stratagem/The Plan of Attack defines the source of strength as unity, not size, and discusses the five factors that are needed to succeed in any war. In order of importance, these critical factors are: Attack, Strategy, Alliances, Army and Cities.
  4. Tactical Dispositions/Positioning explains the importance of defending existing positions until a commander is capable of advancing from those positions in safety. It teaches commanders the importance of recognizing strategic opportunities, and teaches not to create opportunities for the enemy.
  5. Energy/Directing explains the use of creativity and timing in building an army's momentum.
  6. Weak Points & Strong/Illusion and Reality explains how an army's opportunities come from the openings in the environment caused by the relative weakness of the enemy in a given area.
  7. Maneuvering/Engaging The Force explains the dangers of direct conflict and how to win those confrontations when they are forced upon the commander.
  8. Variation in Tactics/The Nine Variations focuses on the need for flexibility in an army's responses. It explains how to respond to shifting circumstances successfully.
  9. The Army on the March/Moving The Force describes the different situations in which an army finds itself as it moves through new enemy territories, and how to respond to these situations. Much of this section focuses on evaluating the intentions of others.
  10. Terrain/Situational Positioning looks at the three general areas of resistance (distance, dangers and barriers) and the six types of ground positions that arise from them. Each of these six field positions offer certain advantages and disadvantages.
  11. The Nine Situations/Nine Terrains describes the nine common situations (or stages) in a campaign, from scattering to deadly, and the specific focus that a commander will need in order to successfully navigate them.
  12. The Attack by Fire/Fiery Attack explains the general use of weapons and the specific use of the environment as a weapon. This section examines the five targets for attack, the five types of environmental attack and the appropriate responses to such attacks.
  13. The Use of Spies/The Use of Intelligence focuses on the importance of developing good information sources, and specifies the five types of intelligence sources and how to best manage each of them.

also while working at this niulanshan school, i just realized while discovering some american guy's '48 laws of power' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_48_Laws_of_Power..... that george and laura bush the president and 1st lady of the time were in beijing at some point during those 5 weeks.... they were blabbing something about freedom of religion and making a point of attending a church in beijing.... i had a chinese newspaper with a picture of them on my quarter's floor for a day or so and i must say, i never did see laura bush with such an intelligent look on her face as in that picture at that church in beijing.... it was in fact, a very quizzical puzzled look on her face but translated as intelligent to me..... in passing it's worth mentioning that it's hard to imagine Jesus taking off in china as the Jesus presented to us by most Christians comes with some ridiculous notions like resurrection and rhapsody and all kinds of nonsense which contradict even the four evangelical books themselves....

let's discuss this in conjunction with 'the 48 laws of power'.... how does Jesus' teaching compare to the '48 laws of power'..... we are told in the wikipedia article that big rappers and big important rich types in america love this book...... really? is it wise to correlate wealth with power? in china there is great wealth and many things nominally belong to the State however in reality there is a constant play for power and certain players arise, often through sordidness such as bribes, contract murders, etc,.... Jesus is said to tell us to eschew great wealth in the Bible however many christians, like george and laura bush, ignore this basic tenet of modern Christianity as it is presented in various churches....after all, great wealth can buy great education, can it not?....well, maybe it can't, especially with free internet.... now Jesus tells us to turn the other cheek, if someone askds for your shirt, give them your jacket too, this seems to fly in the face of the '48 Laws of Power' and yet, if the bible is to be believed, Jesus is telling us he sits at the 'right hand of power' from now on (whatever that means - maybe some guy made that part up anyway, right? who even knows what's real and what isn't about christianity, maybe some priest in the middle ages made up the poo-pooing about wealth too)........ what about turn the other cheek? doesn't this contradict: law 15 of power: crush your enemy totally?.......... we really don't have much to go off with Jesus, later he is meant to be telling us: if your eye offends you pluck it out...... presumably, in the great battle over vanity and ego, after we are done turning the other check we end up hating ourselves and like vincent van gogh, we are tempted to cut our own ears off.... maybe after all of this we will finally experience the kingdom of heaven or great peace that Jesus tells us is within, maybe on the journey to that kingdom we should 'crush the enemy totally' as Robert Greene tells us, after all, Greene has sold 1.2 million copies and became rich, Jesus never made any royalties or won any financial perpetuities for his Bible-resulting actions and we are told that Earthly treasures will not last long in Heaven as eventually, in any case, we will die......... so Jesus is telling us about cultivating the Soul and not Earthly power as Greene teaches us..... well China is full of powerful tall poppies, just as is America, but in both countries, the little people outnumber the big people 10,000 to 1 and more.... in any case, Jesus' Soul cultivation leads to temporal Earthly power: the ability to perform miracles here on Earth, healing the lame, feeding the hungry, etc, with this kind of power, the issue then becomes how does one wield it? one writer posits that the people of Jesus' time were some of them afraid that he might use his power to harm them..... talking about crushing the enemy completely, the typical Jesus story is very interesting: Jesus intentionally, and using 50 cent's 50 rules of power rule number 1: intensely aware of reality, chooses a bad apple, Judas, who will seek to crush Jesus completely, Jesus knows these, knows exactly when and how Judas will betray him, and still goes along with a grand scale turning of the other cheek, and poor old Judas is left to go off and hang himself.... we're told Jesus dies after this and maybe this is why so many American movies have dumb endings.... if a person leaves it to the Mel Gibson's of this world to explain Jesus to them, then that person deserves to get cancer or something, right!? in fact, Jesus does not die on the cross and it doesn't say that in the Bible either, it says he gives up the Holy Ghost which descended on him when John baptised him.... in any case, whatever happens after that, whether Jesus goes on to live to be 125 or whatever, what's clear is that Jesus is nobody's fool, he is calm and in control of things, and he is volunteering himself to be crucified as a way of turning the other cheek and practicing what he taught.... it doesn't at all seem compatible with Greene, Greene is dealing with people being comfortable with a job as a corporate manager or a ridiculous pedestal and ridiculous relationship with the public through the modern media like 50 cent/curtis jackson

benji can tell you what's real to benji: all things of the world are passing, it is an accepted fact that wealth ends at Death and is to be willed to family, friends or charity afterwards..... wealth is important in life as it is important to have good sanitary conditions and objects and possessions that are of a good quality nature.... redistributing one's own wealth to the poor and needy is sure to bring a reward from Heaven, however a person's wife will never allow this on a very large scale, so a person should focus instead, if marrying and mating, on producing offspring with diverse genes to one's own....... turning the other cheek is an excellent philosophy of an individual's general getting by in societies here and there however this would not be see to cover statecraft and the strength and welfare of a particular state, e.g., china or america..... although it would be an interesting experiment for state's to try, certainly the chinese have more than any other nation on Earth practiced exactly this thing after the japanese invasion and american interferences on her land immediately before ww2......

for real spiritual evolution, turning the other cheek and disarming of passion are essential.... a person cannot be a prince and a senator in every lifetime, the person's Soul cannot go forward like this and Heaven does not permit it.... it falls to Heaven to dictate where the Soul is born and into which family, it is next to impossible for certain Souls to achieve certain things without even being born into the right family, caste, etc, in the first place, therefore the Soul is attracted to the right family, nation, etc, for its needs, and every lifetime is just another day in the life of the Soul, even in the Bible, Jesus asks his disciples who they thought he was and one answers: some say you are Elijah returned, obviously by this he means Elijah, from the old testament, reincarnated as Jesus, obviously, most american 'christians' who are really somewhat anti-christ-like wilfully ignore this obvious fact and the many references to eschewing wealth in Christian teachings just reveals that they are not interested in a great many aspects of the evangelicals and instead are interested in posturing like the hypocrites that Jesus criticizes for thanking God for their lack of sinfulness who are actually worse, according to Jesus, than the genuinely repenting thieves who do not cease to steal as they need the money, but who are in any case, genuinely contrite about it..... if a person is wilfully ignorant, and a great many are, then let him after that seek out his 48 laws of power, or stick his head in the sand, or make that law 49: stick your head in the sand and keep it there because you're a sucker....

give to Caesar what is Caesar's is what Jesus is said to tell us in the Bible, therefore, let the rubes have their idiot moron cultures and idiot moron conceptions, God in his wisdom has given us so many Nations, you will find plenty of strengths in one Nation to offset the weaknesses of the first one that upset you.... another conception Jesus is said to say is to 'judge not lest ye be judged'..... this applies to constantly sledging people, i confess, i have taken this habit up myself and it is not generally a good habit, while you will observe alot of negative behavior that you would have to be blind not to see, approaching a child-like 'kingdom of heaven' mentality would most likely bring your mind and consciousness to another plane where you are no longer looking to become a gossipping bitch/prick always harping like a whining prick/arsehole/cunt/bitch about another's weaknesses/shortcomings

people that think by appearing on television they are somehow powerful are wrong... and the rich are always suiciding when things stop going their way.... likewise, selling alot of albums is not a sign of power either.... realize that in an eco-system, there are many species that use eachother and co-operate eachother for the mutual good and this is the same with the media and 'artists' of this world and the movers and shakers and wealthy, etc.... it's all very ephemeral....... focusing on achieving self-mastery and spiritual mastery over life, observe rule 1: never outshine the master.......... this is wrong, in gnosticism there is an expression: the student will end up outperforming the master..... in the Bible Jesus talks about faith and tells the 11 good disciples that they will do greater things than he did.... the student will outshine the master, this is a good thing to happen.......

why do you want to be powerful? so your skin can become shrivelled and pinched and you can bury your last ingot of gold in a secret hidden hole? what is the point of it? to have your legs blown off by a bomb? people should want to be powerful like Jesus was powerful in order to be righteous and strong, not weak.... people should not seek to Lord things over others in temporal affairs except where a person is submitting a challenge to someone else as he feels it's necessary to help the other party become stronger......

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/life/enter/books/b736.htm

look at this other law: infection: avoid the unhappy and weak.... that's a nice law for happy days but at some point you want to get out of your comfort zone and challenge urself, right? and Jesus didn't avoid the unhappy and weak, he cured their lame limbs with some mysterious power, so again Jesus: 1, Robert Greene: 0.... Robert Greene is a dickead same as Robin Williams is a dickead, rule 0.1

this Greene is talking about how to be a sycophant! Let Smithers from 'the Simpsons' read his book! http://robertgreene.net/50-cent-the-50th-law.html
