I suppose in a Monarchy system in England Australia New Zealand etc, the concept of a Republic is antithetical to the values of the monarchy. The monarchy is a giant Republic with no powers of republic and all powers of a Democracy. The practical upshot is that people from the British monarchy anywhere cannot seem to grasp that the Republican Party is a real thing. On top of that, right leaning politics typically extends to finances and not morality so much with monarchy countries vs America possibly. Finally it's possible that the corporate overlords in different Australian media companies dictate the politics of the grunts. Certainly as a nighttime taxi driver I have seen more than my share of grubby scumbags occupying high levels in various corporations, many of them permanently trapped in the closet.
