you know a key element of American unity (e pluribus unum) and culture, is the standardized American accent. It's so common and possibly monotonous to Americans they're often delighted to hear different kinds of accents, such as English accents. Suchlike is often considered 'cool' in America, something different. Therefore it's not surprising Glenn Becks radio show features a leadin from a standard English accent.
every show, the womans voice makes the considerable boast that"what you're about to hear is the fusion between entertainment and enlightenment" (no less) . It almost seems like a tongue in cheek vanity from becks mind and every time i hear it, i immediately think of alternatives, in that same ladys voice / accent, such as:
what you're about to hear is a bunch of sodding bollocks
or: change the station or you'll be disappointed again
or: cor, wouldn't you be better off banging your head against something instead of listening to this codswallop?
how about: listening to this tripe might remind you of the time your doctor told you you had herpes... Go on then!
indeed, ones imagination is left with a veritable plethora of more realistic alternatives to 'the fusion of entertainment and enlightenment '
