rex tillerson ceo of exxon on bloomberg's charlie rose
u know charlie rose is on cbs and bloomberg, not sure how that works for everyone but he must be a lucky guy.............. he recently had a very interesting interview with the ceo of exxon, the world's biggest oil company...........
oil companies frankly get up to some crazy shit, they must have sections like the cia concerned with clandestine activities and slush funds and what not, e.g., you are an oil company exec, you have important sites in nigeria that must be exploited, rebels are making trouble for you, they are jealous of your exploitation..... fortunately, there's a rival gang that hates the rebels and wants them dead, do you:
a) facilitate the arming of the rebels' rival gang with a slush fund
b) watch yogi bear cartoons and commiserate for the people of syria and their lousy civil war there and just give up your oil fields for lost and maybe wonder when james cameron will bring out his next blockbuster
c) arm the rebels and sign a reality tv contract with cartoon network about the arming so that you can make a buck from arming the rebels AND secure your oil-flow
the correct answer is 'a'....... by arming the rebels and keeping it hush hush you secure the oil flow and keep things nice and quiet, everyone wins: at the pump over in new zealand, in nigeria there's a booming oil industry and a brand new police force on patrol, glock glock
tillerson had some very interesting things to say about competition: the danger of subsidizing various industries like wind and solar energy (especially with obama's admin) due to the inability of propped up entities being able to fail and succeed in a real, non-propped up, sense
tillerson recollects the time he spent in the outback in australia negotiating with local aboriginal landholders for access to their oil, he said and i quote: 'they wan'ned [sic] tinnies and flagons and a dollar there cuz so i said 'ok, you got it, let's make a deal'
