Living in an orphanage

To rap or not to rap:

Yo, so now let's go to a kind of abstract but real place, kind of like Star trek... Somewhere between area 51 and the Gunsan air Force Base from New year's 2005.... Somewhere between Dennis Leary's cockles and sub cockle region.... it's my mom's house on jersey Rd in Mt druitt and it's probably late 2002 or even 2003 already. I'm looking at the empty shoes by the front door, inside. Again we're in an abstract place between a plosive t sound and a hard phonetic d sound defining teen and Dean respectively. You think of your own abstractions, pretend you're a presidential speechwriter coming up with lines like: 'people that walk in shadows'....

There's a spiritual atmosphere in the room and while I've never read the Koran the big 9/11, supposedly koranic terrorist attacks seemed to have impressed me deeply. I'd never read the Koran but was somehow familiar in the moment with the notion of all the world's an orphanage which seemed like a vaguely Islamic notion at the time. Looking at my father's shoes, my mother's shoes, my 34 year old brother's shoes, I was having a spiritual insight that my parents and brother were orphans, everyone was an orphan. There were orphans everywhere. And God.

The ancient masters were subtle, mysterious, profound, responsive.
The depth of their knowledge is unfathomable.
Because it is unfathomable,
All we can do is describe their appearance.
Watchful, like men crossing a winter stream.
Alert, like men aware of danger.
Courteous, like visiting guests.
Yielding, like ice about to melt.
Simple, like uncarved blocks of wood.
Hollow, like caves.
Opaque, like muddy pools.

Who can wait quietly while the mud settles?
Who can remain still until the moment of action?
Observers of the Tao do not seek fulfilment.
Not seeking fulfillment, they are not swayed by desire for change.

Doing nothing as Lao Tse suggests is even easier with tv. If you've ever tried watching the American tv show Roswell, you'll find yourself really in a state of non action as Lao Tse would say ... Because nothing ever seemed to happen on that show... Ever... The only good part was the intro;

Now more positive feedback for SNL, two's better than one....
