howdy strangers.... so you wouldn't believe it, after fertilizing five eggs in a clinic under a microscope, successfully carrying one of those eggs to fruition in the form of our first son, then a miscarried egg that failed after a week or so in the womb, and then a third egg bearing successful fruition in the form of our daughter, Scarlet.... and one or two fertilized and frozen eggs thrown out......... the wiffster and myself found ourselves in a position of mutual loathing and preparedness to basically separate -- potential divorce ---- then, this morning, the wiffster comes back from the doctor with the news she's pregnant.......... see what quitting smoking for two months can do for your sperm????  it seems the conception day was around September 11th, around a month ago now...... reckoning that wiffy's last period was due around august 28th, which would have been maybe her second or third since bearing Scarlet, since there was no period for well over a year since birth...... it seems all of Benji's careful gymming around and non-smoking for a paltry two months plus switching from a poultry/red meat diet to eggs, red beans and some tofu did the trick............ unplanned pregnancy........ she did say repeatedly she didn't want to do anymore ivf but if she fell pregnant naturally, she'd go with it, the news of it just happened at a critical point in our relationship where we hit a low point and got to detesting each other

I hope the little egg makes it to full term, but you can't count your chickens before they hatch, the first tri-mester is always the most vulnerable for miscarriage.....  not being a planned pregnancy, I never kept a log of when we had sex but consulting my blog, I calculate it was sometime around watching the new movie, 'brother nature' (2016), and the older movie: 'old school' (2003).... however I do not recall having sex around these dates but anyway whatever...........we're going to the doctor tomorrow morning to get blood test results back so we'll see......

I have to say I feel pretty vulnerable in my relationship with the wiffster but i'm all for another baby, even if we do end up divorcing......... she says she'd be willing to sell the apartment and buy a bigger house, we'll see what happens, it's early days............

moving on, i'm interested, as dorky as it may seem, to read up on Charlemagne and his second wife, Hildegard of the Vinzgau, who bore him most of his children and the heirs to his conquests, which included northern regions of spain from where my own parents hail from (at a time a lot, if not most, of spain was moslem) -- this is going back 1200 years mind you.... I can't say with certainty where my parents direct line ancestors were in those days but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were still living in northern spain even back then.............. I will tell you, prior to the news of wiffy's pregnancy, the two of us were considering separation/divorce (she was insisting on it!) and I was therefore seriously considering going to live in northern spain for a spell, to spend time in my parents' respective parts of spain (Asturias and Palencia), starting with the former and with more interest for the former due to the mountainous nature of the land there and the character of the people, although I would like to spend some time in Palencia too..... in fact, I could quite easily spend five year I would imagine just flittering around various parts of northernmost spain, I would imagine, along or nearby the atlantic coast.................

apart from Charlemagne and Hildegard, i'm interested in Bill and Hillary........... calculate that these are two power couples full of scandal and war and dark secrets and Benji's interested in researching them somewhat and drawing comparisons........... it's an interesting thing about history, because, even 1200 years ago, people are very similar to people nowadays........... we'll let you know how it goes !

As no exact date of birth of Hildegard was recorded, was assumed that at the time of her wedding she could be between 12 and 14 years old. A marriage at this age is not unusual for that time, since the age of marriage was set at puberty. In Roman law, which was very well received by the Church, the minimum age for marriage for girls of 12 years has been established.[8]
An intense physical relationship between the spouses was demonstrated by the fact that, during her 12 years of marriage, Hildegard had 8 pregnancies (including one set of twins) and remarkably chronicles never mentioned either miscarriages or stillbirths. She accompanied Charlemagne on many of his military campaigns: she gave birth her second child and first daughter, Adelaide, during the siege of Pavia, capital of the Kingdom of the Lombards (September 773/June 774), but she died during the return journey to France. In 778, Hildegard accompanied her husband as far as Aquitaine, where she gave birth the twins Louis and Lothair.[9] In 780/781 she traveled with Charlemagne and four of their children to Rome, where the sons Louis and Carloman (renamed Pepin after his baptism by Pope Adrian I) were appointed sub-kings of Aquitaine and Italy, respectively. This contributed to the strengthening of the alliance between the Carolingians and the Papacy.[10] Because of her frequent pregnancies, can be presumed that Hildegard accompanied her husband on further campaigns, at least temporarily.
Hildegard died on 30 April 783, according to Paul the Deacon, from the after effects of her last childbirth.[11] She was buried on 1 May in the Abbey of Saint-Arnould in Metz. Following the wishes of Charlemagne, in her grave were burn candles and daily prayers must be said for her soul.[12]
