The thing about these Australians, especially the English ones here that don't even consider themselves to have an ethnicity, the more they identify as Australian, the more likely they are to appear hypocritical and pompous and holier than thou. It's paradoxical since they actually pride themselves as being relaxed and approachable.
Intelligence I gained as a taxi driver suggests to me Bob Hawke was a serial cheater on his wife (with young Japanese women) and I find that easier to believe than he cared a whole lot for average Australians. Furthermore the economy was shambolic with 20% interest rates, virtually impossible to purchase real estate and Australian prime ministers shmi-ministers.
I note from a legal perspective legislation was not enacted until 1986 to formally separate the two States, Australia and England, so that the government of the latter could in no case be appealed to from Australia, eg., in legal appeals etc. This includes no legislation being allowed to be enacted concerning Australia in England. This never came into effect, legally until 1986.
Morally it's clear to me Charles found more likeable and suitable companionship in his current partner than with Diana. However I do not see Charles as being immoral in any way even if his love went sour with Diana. The same, I intuit, I would not wager to bet in the case of Bob Hawke who I would not be surprised if he were a hypocritical adulterer.

No mention of Japanese women in this biography however by all accounts Hawke was a serial adulterer. Some of his partners having their own marriages. That's how I imagine the ABC News channel: grimy.
